The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

Thanks to Dreampunk Geek for nominating me for the Next Big Thing Blog Hop!

I should have gotten this on Tuesday, but my blogging is minimal during NaNoWriMo.

What is the working title of your book?

Earth Shaker

Where did the idea come from for the book?

The idea of two lovers holding out in a cathedral with their comrades, while an army marches on them.

What genre does your book fall under?

Fantasy

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A man teams up with two mercenaries to go after his friend, who is marching to war, and ends up as the pawn of his companions and an angry Goddess.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

… … … … I dunno.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Agency! Until I give up… Then to Amazon or Barnes and Noble we go!

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Work in Progress.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I’m not really sure. I think there’s a splash of discworld to the layout (no chapters), and some Glen Cook to the style as well. But other stories? I couldn’t begin to say.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

It is a story about finding forgiveness, a protagonist rescuing the knight, hopefully a fun adventure along the way.

For the Next Big Thing Blog Hop, I nominate:

Dreampunk Geek – No one said I couldn’t

Let Them Grumble

um… I dunno how many nominees there has to be.

One Lovely Blog Award

I’m happy to say I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by musinsofasteampunk! Thank you very much!

Seven Things About Me:

  1. I’m currently dating a wonderful girl.
  2. I’m also a bassist as well as a writer, and have some minor skills in drawing.
  3. I wish I’d spent the money for an extra semester of college to get a philosophy degree on top of my writing one.
  4. I have a lot of insight into world building, but have little confidence in my own writing.
  5. While I’m a pacifist, I still know how to use a rifle, bow and arrow, and took kendo lessons.
  6. I actually want to write for video games.
  7. I have more books than shelf space.

And here are the Five People I Nominate:

  1. dreampunk geek
  2. Let Them Grumble
  3. The Renaissance Mind
  4. The Fourth Wall
  5. Texana’s Kitchen

… as well as the Rules:

1. Copy and paste the award logo onto a post.

2. Thank and link back to the person who nominated you.

Liebster Award

Just when I think I’ve run out of steam, and today is a very sick day, I have good news! Apparently Dreampunk Geek nominated me for a Liebster Award. I guess this is the process, stolen from Dreampunk Geek’s Blog.

Here is how it works:

  1. Thank and link back to the giver.
  2. Answer the giver’s questions.
  3. ‘Nominate’ five other blogs with fewer than 200 followers.
  4. Ask five questions for one’s nominees to answer.
  5. Post it all on one’s blog

First, a warm thank you to Dreampunk Geek. I hope by linking to you enough times, you’ll see my sincerity. Thank you so much. I’m honored, honoured, and flattered that you’d pick me.

Now, for the questions:

  1. What do you do when you can’t sleep?
I tend to find my headphones and plug in some post rock music.
  2. If you had the ability to time travel, would you go to the past or future? Why?
Both for different reasons. The past is far more interesting to me. If I could go to the past, I could learn first hand how some of the ancient cultures lived. If we’re assuming time travel in the Doctor Who sense, I’d be in the middle of so many medieval/feudal conflicts… I’d go to the future so I could make a killing in gambling on sports teams and never have to work a day in my life again, so I could chill out and write.
  3. Favorite drink?
Tough one. I’d have to say Apple Cider
  4. Tell us a secret.
I secretly got pretty good at singing when I’ve been alone in my car. Though only my brother and girlfriend have ever heard me sing…
  5. Sing or dance?
Sing, as stated above. Plus, I can’t dance.

My Nominations: (In no Order) I believe these people have under 200 followers, but cannot tell. I hope you take no offense to my believing that.

  1. Reading is the ultimate aphrodisiac
  2. Brian Rush
  3. The Fourth Wall
  4. Let them Grumble

My Questions

  1. How do you find the time/inspiration to write your blog?
  2. Favorite type of music?
  3. If you could meet any person, dead, alive, real, or fictional, who would it be and why?
  4. Do you play any kind of “sport”? (Including martial arts/sporting activities)
  5. Can you say Anna banana 10 times fast?
